Breaking Free
Reality is never easy to bear.
So often it goes contrary to what we want.
It unsettles us, and it makes us hate the things we have.
What a dangerous enemy reality will make, if we come to hate it.
And yet we must deal with it.
That is what we must do.
At the end of the day how well we can be at ease depends on how we deal with what is real.
There is no other way.
No shortcut.
You see what affects us always, be it in good or bad times, is accepting this reality.
Knowing what to do is obvious.
Answers are not difficult to find.
It is only whether we want to listen to what reality says or not.
You gain some, you lose some.
This is life.
This ain't a fairytale.
Many times we look to complex models to interpret seemly complex questions reality throws at us.
Why not take a step back and look at things the simple way?
Why seek to further complicate matters?
We already have a lot on our hands already.
No need to make it worse.
And when we begin to do so it becomes clear what we must do.
The next step is to accept it, and how to go about achieving that aim.
And that in itself is also very simple.
We all need to pay a price for everything.
We gain some we lose some.
When we want something done, we make the effort to do it.
It is really that simple.
It always is.
It always will be.
It is easy to let ourselves slip into pessimism and isolationism when we think this way.
And yet that is the very danger we must avoid.
The road ahead is still long.
We cannot afford to give up what is right.
Dream we still must.
But it must always be rooted in reality and reason.
There is no need to wonder too far.
The answers lie right in front of us.
And for me it is all about taking the first big step.
And once that is done, to take another.
Soon the momentum builds up.
Soon we will be on our way.
I looked to an old solution that was easy yet difficult to accept,
that is to prune out illogical parts of the equation.
So that what I see will be clear again.
That first step is always the most difficult.
But once you've created a dead end for yourself, you'll never consider going back.
Because that is no longer possible anymore.
Once again we have a clear road ahead.
A road we know is the way to go.
Reality may throw all it has on us.
But it is up to us to make that choice on where to go next.
We should always seek calm and clarity,
to block out the noise so that we may see the path we should take.
Contending with reality is always about accepting the bad, counting the good and making a reasoned decision from there on.
And having the strength to live with what is bad.
It is only this way can we make the wrong right again.
It is dangerous, to fall into the dead end of distractions just for a momentary escape from the problem at hand.
It can be used to lessen the burden, but never as a solution by itself.
Our temptations lead us to dark places.
Places we may not understand and know how to deal with.
In the end life will only becomes darker.
In the end we become more lost.
Worst, we may not even know why.
And now the illogical parts of the equation have been cut away.
What can be done has already been done.
There is no turning back.
There are other constraints, but in time they will come to resolve themselves.
Now it is all up to me to keep up with the momentum.
Understand that there will be ups and downs.
But have the strength to go through them all.
It is just part of the process.
And at the end of it all, we emerge stronger than before.
Beware of temptations that lies behind every corner.
Ones that seek to complicate the simple fact of reality.
The greatest danger lies within us.
The quagmire of negative emotions, the lack of will.
Once we are able to remove these illogical segments of the equation,
the road ahead lies clear.
All will be well.
We are on our way.
