The Fear We Share

Photobucket

What is fear?

The scourge that all men fear, its bitter poison we all share.

Upon our knees we fall, when we hear its monstrous horns. In weakness we cringe, in its gripping cold we shiver.

Strong men it had humbled. All their guns silenced, all their swords bent.

They could say nothing, they could do nothing.

Fear is what we do not want, and what we dare not face.

It makes us less than who we are. It bends Logic inwards, and squeezes it smaller and smaller.

Until nothing becomes logical. Nothing becomes worth.

And one will forever be trapped in the prison he has built himself, hugging on to what little he still considers as dear.

And how insignificant does that little count!

There is no better and more efficient way to destroy strength.

For what we fear, we sought a solution to soothe that fear, no matter the cost.

This is logical, but what if what you fear is what is right, and what you must accept?

In this case Logic alone will lead you nowhere. It will only lead you further away from the Truth.

It will only lead you away from what you truly are.

For all the merits and strengths you have been built with, now all laid to waste.

So what do we fear?

Is it the fear that we lack what it takes to accomplish a certain task?

Or the fear that we cannot accept what we must, that it is too difficult and the task too daunting?

Or is it that fear that despite all we have done, it will never be enough, and history will repeat itself again?

In any case, fear is something we can never eliminate. There will always be something you fear, for something of the past, or for something of the new.

And so fear for the right things. Fear not what you cannot do, for those are truly beyond you, and that we must accept.

But fear what you will not do.

We could forever hide when fear comes, but for how long?

For how long can we pretend everything around is is crumbling, while we continue to let fear grip us from what we must do?

We may hide in that little space and enjoy whatever comforts we still have, but this does not make the matter at hand go away. It still remains unsolved, lying outside, creating whatever troubles it promises to bring.

And so I ask you, which is more important, your fears, or what must be done?

The answer to our fears lie in the understanding that there are things out there a lot more important than our fears.

That the fear for something does not necessarily compel us to give it credit.

If it is right, then we must look into it as a logical problem, and push aside all emotional misgivings associated with it.

See and accept the worst, but plan for the best.

Understand that with whatever skills given to us, we may do things to their very best, so that the very worst will be made less likely.

And if one has already done his best, yet things still turned out to be the worst, then we must accept that this is how things must turn out.

For fault will not lie in us, simply because we have given out all.

If we accept this, then what more do we have to fear?

Some of my fears from the past have returned in recent times.

They used to grip me, haunt me and break me.

It brought me to very dark places, and did very wrong things.

But I no longer have that to fear anymore.

I no longer have fear for the past.

Because if I allow myself to give in to that fear, then the past will truly repeat itself again.

There are a lot more things out there that deserves greater credit than these fears.

For they are past and gone, made definite in history. What lies ahead still lies unformed.

With these I see what is true for myself.

I have peace and clarity.

I know what to do for the days ahead.

I now seek to hold on to that strength to keep it that way.

As always I can see and understand all of these for myself.

But how do I translate these to those who truly need it?

I guess, things will just have to stay the way it is.
